Meeting with University of Otago, New Zealand

On September 2, 2024, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), by Office of International Relations  held a meeting with representatives from the University of Otago, New Zealand. Mr. Paul Baker, Director of the University of Otago’s Language Centre, and Ms. Jaruwan Pongcharuwat, Director of Education New Zealand from the New Zealand Embassy. The meeting took place at the Sompor Meeting Room, 2nd floor, Office of the President Building, RMUTL. The meeting was chaired via video conference by Assistant Professor Dr. Juttharit Thongpron, Advisor to the President. Along with Assistant Professor Dr. Thitiporn Phantha Chang, Assistant to the President; Dr. Noppadol Maneethian, Director of the College of College of Integrated Science and Technology, Assistant Professor Dr. Praipan Thanalertsopit, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts, Dr. Sakuntala Saijai, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Science and Agricultural Technology, Assistant Professor Dr. Supornphan Khonchiab, Lecturer from the Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts, Ms. Prisana Kulnala, Head of the Language Center, RMUTL, relevant personnel and staff from the International Relations Office.

The meeting focused on discussing potential avenues for academic collaboration and activities that both universities can pursue together in the future. Key areas of cooperation included the development of English language skills for faculty members for both further studies and teaching across various curricula, improving the English proficiency of RMUTL students for their final-year language skills examination (EXIT EXAM) for the academic year 2020, as well as opportunities for studying abroad. Additionally, the discussion included the development of joint undergraduate programs, student and staff exchanges, and opportunities for higher education and scholarships at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels at the University of Otago.

The University of Otago is New Zealand's oldest public university, renowned for its distinguished faculty, who are A-rated and come from New Zealand and around the world to teach students and produce internationally recognized research. The university offers programs in four main areas: Humanities, Health Sciences, Sciences, and Business. It is located in Dunedin, known as a "university city," which is a highly livable and safe environment with a reasonable cost of living, making it a popular destination for students from around the globe.
